Vehicle Transport to Mallory Park Circuit

Mallory Park sits in the Leicestershire countryside just outside Kirkby Mallory, a short drive from both Leicester and Hinckley, and if you have ever raced there you will know it rewards a car that is ready the moment it rolls off the trailer. The lap is only 1.35 miles, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in pace. Gerard's is a fast right-hander that sorts the brave from the cautious, and once you are through there the run down towards the Devil's Elbow comes at you quicker than you would like. Shaw's Hairpin is where most of the overtaking happens on a club day, and it is also where a driver finds out whether their brakes are genuinely up to the job. We have moved everything from single-seaters to hot hatches up to this place, and the approach is nearly always the same: get the car there early, unharmed, and ready for the scrutineer. The A47 corridor and the M1 and M69 junctions are familiar ground for our drivers, so the last few miles into the paddock rarely hold any surprises. Because Mallory runs such a busy club calendar through the summer, our busiest weeks tend to line up with its test days and race meetings. A car that will not start, or a race bike with a fresh engine that has not been run in, is no problem for us. We carry winches, ramps and soft straps as standard, and we would sooner spend an extra ten minutes strapping something down than risk a scuff on bodywork. If you are heading up from the south-west for a meeting, give us the date and we will work the timetable backwards so the car is there when the paddock opens, not half an hour after your session starts.

Non-road-legal race cars

Most of what we deliver to Mallory Park never touches a public road under its own power. Track-only single-seaters, stripped-out saloons and sprint specials all travel on our trailers, tied down by the wheels and covered against motorway spray. Because Gerard's and the Devil's Elbow punish any car that has been thrown about in transit, we treat the journey like a final shakedown and tie everything so nothing moves.

Race bikes to club meetings

Race bikes heading to Mallory for a club meeting need different strapping to a car. We use soft loop ties on the bars and rear sets rather than ratchets over painted bodywork, and a front wheel chock so the forks are not compressed the whole way. A bike that arrives with a bent lever or a scored tank is a bike that has already lost a session, and we would rather that did not happen.

Multi-car team moves

Mallory's short lap means a team can run several cars across one weekend, so we are used to pulling into the paddock with two or three machines on a single run. We load in a sensible order, keep the paperwork per car separate, and unload so the first car due out is the first one off the trailer. It saves a lot of shuffling in a paddock that gets tight on a busy club day.

Paddock-to-paddock

If you have bought a car from a seller in Leicester or Hinckley and want it at Mallory for a test day, we will collect it from their lock-up and hand it over in the paddock. You do not need to be there for the collection, just someone who can sign for it at each end. The car turns up at the circuit at the same time you do, from wherever you actually are.

Non-runners

A car that will not fire is routine for us. We carry ramps and a winch as standard, plus a low-ride trailer for anything that sits close to the deck. If it needs to go to a scrutineer's workshop or back to the builder after a meeting, we will take it there and drop it exactly where it needs to be, not at the nearest point the truck will reach.

Timing around test days

Mallory's calendar fills up fast in the summer and its test days book out. Tell us your session time and we will work back from scrutineering so the car arrives with slack to spare. We would rather sit in the paddock queue at half six in the morning than leave you staring at an empty bay when your number is called.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get a non-road-legal race car to Mallory Park?

We winch it onto a trailer and strap it down by the wheels, which is the only way a track-only car can legally and safely travel. Single-seaters, sprint cars and anything without an MOT all go the same way. Our trucks run up the M5, across the A46 and onto the M69 towards Leicester, and the car does not need to be a runner to load it. You just need to be at the circuit, or have someone there, to sign it over when we arrive.

What is the best route into Mallory Park from the south-west?

We usually come up the M5 to Birmingham and across on the M69, then drop towards Kirkby Mallory on the A47. The final approach is narrow in places, but our drivers know which gates take a transporter and where not to go. If you are meeting us there, we will give you a rough arrival time the morning of the move and a ring when we are about twenty minutes out.

Can you move several cars for a club meeting in one trip?

Yes. Mallory's paddock gets busy, but a single run with two or three cars is cheaper than three separate journeys and it means your whole team's kit arrives together. We load them so the first car out is the first one off, and keep any spares, wheels and fuel cans strapped separately so nothing rattles against the bodywork on the way up.

Do you carry race bikes to Mallory as well?

We do, and they get treated differently to cars. Bikes ride in a wheel chock with soft ties on the bars and rear sets, never a ratchet over a painted tank. We check the straps at fuel stops and make sure nothing is touching anything it should not be. A bike that turns up clean and unmoved is one that is ready for scrutineering the moment we drop the ramp.

What if my car will not start and needs to go back to the builder?

Then it goes on a winch, not a prayer. We carry ramps and a winch on the truck and a low trailer for anything that sits close to the ground. If it needs dropping at a workshop in Leicester or Hinckley after the meeting, we will take it straight there and put it where the mechanic wants it, not the nearest bit of kerb the truck will reach.

How far in advance should I book for a Mallory test day?

Sooner than you think in the summer. Mallory's test days and club meetings fill the calendar from spring onwards, and our slots get taken around the same dates. If you know your session time, book the transport the same day you confirm the entry. We work backwards from scrutineering and build in slack so a bit of M5 traffic does not cost you your morning.
