A typical 400-mile journey takes about 10 hours of driving plus loading time — usually completed in one day. For 600+ mile moves, we plan an overnight stop and deliver the next morning.
Why an owner-driver for long distance?
A single driver needs to find their own way back — train, bus, or one-way rental. That adds cost, delay, and complexity. I make my own way back and it’s built into the fixed price, so there are no surprises.
How do you price long-distance moves?
We calculate the full triangle: our journey from Devon to the collection point, then to delivery, then back to Devon. £1.50/mile plus a £150 fixed fee. Minimum charge £250. You get the exact price upfront.
Is my vehicle insured on a long-distance journey?
Yes — fully insured under our motor trade road risk policy for the entire journey. Cover is comprehensive regardless of distance.
What if the vehicle breaks down?
In the unlikely event of a breakdown, we have nationwide recovery cover. We'll arrange recovery to the nearest safe location and keep you updated throughout.
