Vehicle Transport in Cumbria
Cumbria is the Lake District, the Pennines, and the Solway coast — and at 300+ miles from Devon, it's one of our longest regular English runs. The M6 takes us all the way to Carlisle; the A590/A595 serve the western Lakes and coast. This is three-day territory: travel day one, collect/deliver day two, return day three. But the scenery makes it worthwhile — and our two-person team makes it financially viable where a single-driver service would struggle.
M6 to the End
The M6 runs from the Midlands to Carlisle — continuous motorway for 300+ miles. It ends at junction 44, just north of Carlisle, where it becomes the A74(M) into Scotland.
Lake District Navigation
The Lake District's narrow, winding passes (Kirkstone, Honister, Wrynose, Hardknott) are some of Britain's most challenging roads. We know which are suitable and which aren't — we'll never risk your vehicle on an unsuitable pass.
Kendal & The Gateway
Kendal is the southern gateway to the Lakes, just off the M6 at junction 36. A pleasant town with good access — one of our main Cumbria staging points.
Carlisle & The North
Carlisle is England's northernmost city — 310 miles from Devon. The M6 takes us right there. Carlisle collections are always planned as three-day operations.
Western Lakes & Coast
Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven, Workington — the Cumbrian coast west of the Lakes requires navigating the A590 and A595. Slower going than the M6 corridor, but spectacular.
Winter Planning Essential
Cumbria gets serious winter weather. The M6 over Shap Summit (junction 38-39) is regularly closed by snow. We monitor conditions and plan accordingly — safety first, always.
